Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to audition?
Nothing. Creating an Artist Account and auditioning for The Voice is always free.
What if I have been contacted by an outside company charging a fee to audition?
DO NOT PAY THEM! These companies are in NO WAY affiliated with the casting of The Voice. You should never pay a fee to audition for The Voice!
Can I audition if I am under the age of 13?
No. In order to audition, you must be at least thirteen (13) years of age by the date stated in the eligibility requirements.
Can I audition if I am not a U.S. citizen?
You must be legally here in the United States and must be eligible to accept the prize*, if awarded, with the unrestricted right to work for any U.S. employer and live in the United States. Proof of such eligibility must be provided to Producer. Acceptable forms of proof include (without limitation) a valid US passport or combination of valid US driver's license and valid social security card.
*Satisfaction of this eligibility requirement pertains solely to the participant's receipt of prizes (if any) that may be awarded by Producer.
I'm a parent. Should I create the account, or should my child?
You should. A parent or legal guardian creates the Artist Account in their own name, then adds the child to it. You manage the child's audition and electronically sign the consent forms from your account. Children under 13 cannot have their own account. Teens 13 to 17 may create their own account, and a parent or legal guardian must electronically sign consent before they can audition.
What if I auditioned last season? Can I audition again?
YES! Sign in with the same email you used before, confirm your info, sign this season's agreements, and you're ready to audition again.
How do I sign in? What if I forgot my password?
There are no passwords. Enter your email address on the sign-in page and we'll send you a one-time code or sign-in link. Use the same email you signed up with.
What if I didn't receive an email when signing in or creating my account?
Check the junk or spam folders in your email account. Codes usually arrive within a minute or two. If you still don't see one, request a new code from the sign-in page.
If I am auditioning as a duo or trio, how do we sign up?
One member starts the group from their own account and invites the other members by email. Each member creates their own Artist Account and signs their own agreements. A parent can add and manage a child member from the parent's account.
How do I submit my video submission?
In your Artist Account, choose Send a Video Submission. You can upload the video file straight from your phone or computer, or paste a shareable link (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc.). If you paste a link, make sure it doesn't require a password to view.
Can I submit more than one video submission?
NO! One video submission per season is all that is needed!
Can I use backing tracks or play an instrument for my video submission?
YES.
Will there be more Open Call Audition cities announced?
We won't be traveling to Open Call Cities this season. All casting for The Voice will be done online and through video submissions. Be sure to submit your video or register for one of our Virtual Open Calls.
Can I still submit a video submission via mail?
NO. We are currently only accepting video submissions online.
If I submit a video, when will I know if I'm being considered for the show?
Your Artist Account dashboard always shows the status of your submission. If you are selected for the next round, a member of the casting team will contact you.
What is a Virtual Open Call?
The Virtual Open Call is just like an open call audition but from the comfort of your home, using your phone, tablet, or computer equipped with a webcam. You register, choose a date and time, and perform your audition live for The Voice Casting Team to review.
How will I know when my Virtual Open Call is?
Once you choose a date and time in your Artist Account, you'll see your booking on your dashboard. You will also receive a confirmation email, plus a reminder email before your audition.
Can I change my Virtual Open Call audition day?
YES! Open Virtual Open Call in your Artist Account to reschedule or cancel. Dates and time slots fill up quickly, so please make your selection early.
Can I register for more than one Virtual Open Call?
You can have one Virtual Open Call booked at a time. Once your audition has been reviewed and your result released, you can register again if registration is still open.
Is there a list of songs that I have to sing for the Virtual Open Call?
NO. Prepare a song that best suits your voice and represents you as an artist.
How much time will I get to sing at my Virtual Open Call?
You will have 1:30 (1 minute, 30 seconds) to perform at your Virtual Open Call audition.
Can I sing to a backing track, instrument, or accompaniment at my Virtual Open Call?
YES! Be sure to have everything set up and ready to go before your audition time.
If I'm a minor, can I audition for a Virtual Open Call?
YES! Your parent or legal guardian must electronically sign the consent form in your Artist Account before you can book.
Which device or browser should I use for my Virtual Open Call audition?
You can use any computer or smart device equipped with a camera and microphone. We suggest Google Chrome or Apple Safari for the best experience, and we'll run a quick camera and microphone check before you record. When your browser asks for camera and microphone access, tap Allow.
What happens if I can't record before my Virtual Open Call day is over?
You can pick a new day from the Virtual Open Call section of your Artist Account, or send a Video Submission instead.
Can I send in a video submission and also participate in a Virtual Open Call?
YES!
How will I know if I've been selected after my audition?
If you are selected to move on to the next round, a member of The Voice Casting Team will contact you with more details and let you know what happens next!
Where can I find a copy of the legal documents I agreed to?
Your agreements are listed in your Artist Account. After you sign, each one shows as signed on your dashboard and you can download a PDF copy.
If I participated in an Instagram hashtag contest through @TheVoiceCasting such as #VoiceVocalSocial, does that count as an official audition?
NO. You must submit an official Video Submission through your Artist Account or participate in one of our Virtual Open Call auditions to be considered for The Voice.
I uploaded my video at nbc.com. Is this the same as an official video submission?
NO. You must follow the guidelines on nbcthevoice.com on how to submit an OFFICIAL Video Submission for The Voice Casting Team.
